My interest in art developed in 1994 when I needed an avenue to help my healing from a painful childhood molestation. When I first entered therapy I had great difficulty putting my thoughts and experiences of abuse into words. I was however, able to write in a journal and I would bring that journal into my therapy sessions and read it to my therapist. One day while writing I felt a need to draw myself as a child. I drew a primitive stick figure of that scared isolated child and was amazed at how I captured her emotions with just that stick figure. I was then compelled to do more drawings.I brought my adult self into the pictures to listen to , love and nurture that sad and hurt child. As the months passed a transformation took place. I found self love and gained acceptance of my past. Those early primitive drawings are the most valuable art I posess. The time spent reliving my childhood on paper and giving myself the nurturing I desperately needed was the greatest gift I have ever given myself. However I quickly became frustrated with my artistic ability. I realized I needed to learn some art basics. I took several art classes at The South Shore Art Center in Cohasset Massachusetts, then armed with the basics, I read all I could about my favorite mediums; pastel, charcoal and acrylic. As I developed my skills I broadened my range of subjects and materials. Currently, I combine my stick figures of "The Healed Little Girl" and other characters with multi media to create scenes that express my approach to healing and life; fun and humor are a necessary part!

I am a wife and mother of 3 and have worked for the past seven years as a Postpartum Doula and a nanny. This works well with my love for children and family, and deep dedication to educating new parents how to care for, love and nurture their children and themselves. In my art I especially strive to create pieces that are fun for kids and can be enjoyed by both them and their parents.
